Hickory Ridge is one of ten villages in the planned community of Columbia, MD. Our first residents moved into the neighborhood of Hawthorn in 1973, others soon followed in the Clemens Crossing neighborhood. Our third and largest neighborhood, Clary’s Forest, was developed in the mid-1980’s. We have grown to 4,700 housing units and more than 13,000 residents making Hickory Ridge the second largest village in Columbia.
The Hickory Ridge Community Association is a non-profit corporation that supports a range of services for the residents of the village. All homeowners and tenants are members of this association. Each April the residents elect a five-member volunteer Board of Directors that establishes policies, oversees the budget, and appoints committee members and the village manager.
Our active Village Board of Directors and Resident Architectural Committee serve the community with grassroots “government” and covenant enforcement. Columbia is a covenant town with architectural guidelines that address the appearance of all properties. We recommend that you request a Letter of Compliance before purchasing a home in Hickory Ridge. This is a guarantee that you are purchasing a property free of any covenant violation.
